Farewell to Lupo
The PCOM RFC wrapped up its 2008 Spring season by handing over a whalop to the Philly Gryphons 54 - 3. The gryphons did enjoy a Zulu by Ben Boni. Unfortunatelly this would be Keven Lupo's last game, He is a great guy and awsome rugby player and he will be missed. Good luck in New York buddy.

Widner Law Annual Earth Day Tournament
The Thirteen Amigos
In game one of PCOM's domination at the Widener law tournament. PCOM matched up against old foe and divison rival White Horse. Playing with only 13 guys, the odds were stacked against PCOM, who hasn't beaten White Horse in 4 years. PCOM would strike first as Trotter found pay dirt early in the First Half. For the remainder of the half PCOM found themselves with their backs against the their own try line, but never budging and playing great defense took a 5-0 lead into halftime.
The first 10 minutes of the 2nd half was a stand still. But PCOM would wear down White Horse with big hits and capitalizing on a great kicking game. Ben Boni setup try number two with a solid open field tackle allowing Maguire to make a clean pick and pass to Flynn for 12-0 PCOM lead. Ben would then find the try zone after a solid run for 17-0 lead. With no time left, PCOM felt bad about embarrassing White Horse so we let them score. With hard hits all game PCOM 17-5. Man of the Match Ben Boni.
The Brian Trotter Show
In Game two PCOM would match up Widener law. Once again with only 13 to start PCOM would have some to do. PCOM dominated Widener all game winning all the lineouts and 90% of all scrums. PCOM would strike first as Brian Trotter was a one man wrecking crew.
Then Trotter setup Flynn for a Try, PCOM 12-0. Then Schwab showed up to give PCOM 14 men, which lead to his try in the first 19-0 PCOM at Half.
PCOM would continue to dominate with tries by Little and Trotter for a Final PCOM 31-0. Great Kicking by Cole lead to 3 impressive conversions. Man of the match Brian Trotter (I don't think he was tackled once all game).
Broken Nose or Not
In the last matchup of the day PCOM would face Georgetown with 15 men finally. Georgetown law was probably the best team at the tournament, but somehow lost to White Horse. The first half PCOM was in the offensive zone the entire game but could not punch in a Try. Finally with no time left in the Half, Golden Boot Conroy Punched through a Penalty kick to give PCOM a 3-0 at Half.
Georgetown would capitalize on a early penalty call and punch in a try to go up 5-3. PCOM woulld control the ball for the majority of the 2nd half in the offensive zone but continued to come up short. Finally with a long cross field pass from Conroy to Paul, Paul broken nose and all ran through over and past several Hoyas for the game winning try. PCOM 10-5. Man of the Match Paul Sahd, true Warrior.
Gentlemen and that is how rugby is played....
Very impressive tackling all day, nearly mistake free rugby. Great job.

Great win on Saturday. We played together as a unit on the field
and came up
on defense together and these are the results play like that produce.
PCOM started the scoring when we were able to have them commit
too many to
the rucks, Paul busted a big run which setup Lupo for a try late
in the
first half. Then we played solid defense in our own zone and Laz
gave a
great boot out of our try zone. With some hustle we were able to
beat them
back to the ball and Flynn scored a try with no time left in the
First half
PCOM 12 LV 0.
Once again though fellas we started off a little slow in the second
and made
a few mistakes and LV tied the game within the first 15 minutes
of the 2nd
half. At this point in the game we dominated LV in tackling, rucking,
scrumming, lineouts and intensity. It was also this point in the
game The
golden boy himself Conroy launched a penalty kick through to break
the tie
(15-12). But He wasn't done there, he added TWO DROP GOALS to give
PCOM a
21-12 lead (Never seen anything like that in my brief rugby career).
Then
PCOM ended with a breakthrough run by Lupo and great pass to Flynn
with no
time remaining. Final PCOM 26 LV 12.
Overall: An Excellent effort. Great Work, Great Team work also.
This week we
need to practice maintaining possession when we are running the
ball. Not
getting held up and lossing possession. In the 2nd half we started
Leeching
like Fred taught us and it worked well. Also We must continue to
slide on
defense that is how they scored both tries, we were outmanned. THANKS
to
guys who came out and supported us. Hope to see everyone Wednesday
and Let's
get ready for North Penn.

A tough loss on Saturday fellas, it was a hard faught game but
it
simply came down to mistakes, at least these are things we can work
on
in practice.
Once again we started the game defending our try zone for the first
5-
10 minutes, we need better starts. We were once again able to fight
out of our zone eventually setting up Paul on the outside for a
try.
PCOM 5-0. White Horse then took advantage of a controvesial kick-off
and punched it in making it 5-7. Playing the ball on the ground
killed us in the first half pinning us deep again finally ending
in a
White Horse try 5-14. We probably played the best 10 minutes of
the
year by driving in a try and controlling the ball with little time
remaining in the first half 14-12. Another mistake not marking men
on
a scrum, White Horse got on the board with a great hustle play by
their fly-half 12-19 as time ran out (KILLED US).
The second half White Horse got on the board quickly carrying the
momentum 12-26. White Horse kept the momentum going and a shitty
penalty in which White Horse got a warning and we however did not(just
a note the penalty shouldn't have happened or mattered but this
call
was bush league, they got away with this line-up penalty twice!!!)
and put up one more try 12-31. PCOM we played great down the stretch
of the last 10/15 minutes. A great run by Pete for a try, 17-31.
WE
had a lot of pressure the last 10 minutes but couldn't punch any
in,
but it was great to see us not give up. FINAL 17 PCOM 31 White Horse.
We need to work on not playing the ball on the ground it absolutely
killed us. Our lineups had good results, but people didnt know what
to
do in the 2nd half. I realize the older guys can't make practice,
so
we have to run through them before the game and make adjustments
with
the new guys coming into the game. I think the backs now understand
the importance of marking a man, we will go through this in practice
this week. We rucked fairly well. But once we engage, we need to
get
solid and not allow the rucks to be blown up.
Hope to see everyone Wednesday need a Good Practice for Lehigh this
weekend.

Ok, so here's how it went...
Sean Flynn found his way in to the try zone TWICE (5 x 2 = 10)
Sean Conroy converted one try (+ 2)and scored points on a penalty
kick (+3).
Newbies Peter and Paul, with the help of Mary, found their wannabe
apostle asses in the try zone each with a score (5 + 5 = 10)
Final Score:
PCOM -- 25
Jersey Shore -- 15
